The challenge
A supervisor needs to help a colleague perform a task independently. Practice must reveal how the trainer explains the work, allows the learner to try, checks performance, and gives specific feedback.
My contribution to the work shown
Learning design for the departmental trainer programme: structuring learning and practice, preparing facilitation guidance, and connecting assessment with workplace application. These elements support the leader and authorised assessor in following readiness.
What was designed
Participants practise ABC: gain Attention, Break down the task, and Check independent performance. The learning journey includes preparation, demonstration, peer practice, feedback, and an application plan, supported by a 17-criterion assessment rubric.
The route into the workplace
The two days provide preparation and rehearsal. The day-two assessment indicates readiness for a certification attempt. An authorised assessor then observes a real workplace training session within 30 days, with coaching and further attempts according to programme requirements.
What the evidence establishes
The materials document programme structure, readiness criteria, and the assessment route. Duration, criteria, and the deadline describe requirements. Certification rates, workplace use, and changes in operating outcomes need to be examined in each delivery’s assessment and follow-up records.
What I carry into future design
Build around a work task, meaningful practice, and a clear assessment standard. Arrange application and leader support before learning ends. The spirit of Hafawah shows in respect for the learner and the conditions that help them try, learn, and perform.
